Zanac is a retro sci-fi shoot ’em up game developed by CollectorVision Games for the ColecoVision home console.

The story unfolds millennia after an ancient alien race created a mysterious device known as the “System.” Containing infinite wisdom and unimaginable power, the System was meant to unlock advanced knowledge and technology. However, when improperly accessed by humankind, it unleashed catastrophic destruction across the galaxy.

Now, the System spreads uncontrollably, conquering and annihilating everything in its path. Humanity’s scientists have finally learned how to access its secrets, but its automated tactical defenses are too powerful to stop. The only hope lies in a bold and unlikely strategy — sending a single, advanced starfighter into the heart of the System itself.

Players take control of the AFX-6502 “Zanac”, the most technologically advanced fighter ever built. The mission: penetrate layers of enemy defenses, defeat overwhelming waves of automated resistance, and ultimately destroy the System before it engulfs the entire galaxy.
