The Wizard of Id’s WizMath is an educational puzzle game developed by Sierra Entertainment for the ColecoVision home gaming console.

Based on the popular comic strip The Wizard of Id, this title transforms math learning into an exciting dungeon escape adventure that combines logic, speed, and strategy.

In the game, players take on the role of Spook, who must escape from the dungeons of the King of Id while being pursued by the relentless Turnkey. To progress through each level, players solve math problems by maneuvering numbered and symbol blocks into place using the joystick. Correctly arranged equations open pathways to freedom, but time is limited—each level must be completed within sixty seconds while avoiding capture.

Gameplay difficulty increases as players advance, with later levels requiring multiple math problems to solve before escaping. Before starting, players select a floor level on an elevator, with higher floors presenting tougher challenges. The game also adjusts difficulty based on the player’s selected age, making it suitable for learners of different skill levels.

Combining educational content with arcade-style mechanics, The Wizard of Id’s WizMath demonstrates Sierra Entertainment’s innovative approach to learning through play.
