Qbiqs – ColecoVision Retro Shooter by Z80ST Software & Team Pixelboy

Qbiqs is a modern homebrew release for the ColecoVision, developed by Z80ST Software and published by Team Pixelboy.

Blending retro arcade shooting with a creative storyline, the game challenges players to battle digital corruption inside a CRT monitor where mutated dead pixels, called QBIQS, threaten to disrupt the display.

The premise is both imaginative and nostalgic: as cathode rays attempt to project images, the QBIQS interfere, leaving the screen unstable. Players must step in to restore order by piloting one of three distinct ships—Ray, Glow, or Beam—each offering its own style of play.

Gameplay is structured across ten progressive levels where the objective is to “blast away the QBIQS, one block at a time.” Success depends on precision, reflexes, and adapting to increasing difficulty as the digital enemies multiply and patterns grow more complex. Each stage pushes players closer to uncovering the mystery behind the dangerous pixel mutations.

Qbiqs combines fast-paced shooting mechanics with a puzzle-like element, making it stand out within the ColecoVision’s homebrew catalog.
