Help Wee Willie wash the right windows before water runs out.
Memory Manor is a memory-based puzzle game developed by Frieda Lekkerkerker and released through Fisher-Price Learning Software and Spinnaker Software for the ColecoVision home gaming console.
The game introduces players to Wee Willie, a window washer whose job is to keep his apartment-dwelling customers satisfied. However, not every resident is pleased with his work. Some eagerly welcome their windows being washed, while others are unhappy about his watery efforts.
The challenge lies in memory and precision. At the beginning of each round, players are briefly shown the occupants of the manor. Once the windows fog up from the rain, the residents are hidden from view. Controlling Wee Willie, players can move side to side, climb ladders, and choose which windows to wash. The objective is to remember where the welcoming customers live and avoid wasting water on those who do not want their windows cleaned. With only a limited supply of water in Willie’s bucket, efficiency is key. If all the water is used up incorrectly, the game ends.
Memory Manor blends problem-solving with memory skills, creating a unique challenge for retro gamers. Its side-view perspective and simple controls make it approachable, while the reliance on memory and resource management adds depth. As a Fisher-Price and Spinnaker Software title for ColecoVision, it also highlights the intersection of educational design and home console entertainment during the early 1980s.
