Fireman – a classic action game by Nice Ideas

Fireman is a fast-paced action game for the ColecoVision home console, originally developed by Nice Ideas.

Players step into the role of a firefighter tasked with saving an apartment building from destruction as fires break out from hazardous sources such as candles, bombs, and dynamite.

To battle the flames, players can use a fire extinguisher from the fire truck or connect a hose to the nearest hydrant. By pressing a button, a steady stream of water is released to extinguish fires and neutralize incoming dangers. Careful movement and timing are critical, as coming into contact with any hazard while walking results in the loss of a life.

The game demands quick reflexes, precise control, and strategic use of firefighting tools as each level increases in difficulty. Fireman offers a unique firefighting theme that was uncommon in early home console games, delivering a distinctive, skill-based arcade-style experience on the ColecoVision.

This version of Fireman is based on a prototype discovered in 2009 by David Hill, also known as Coleconut, who originally published the game. The label and box artwork were designed by Chris Coles. The game was later re-released by CollectorVision.
