Explore deadly dungeons, uncover treasures, and guide your party to glory in this rare retro RPG experience.
Lord of the Dungeon is a fantasy role-playing game developed by NAP Consumer Electronics and later released with CollectorVision Games for the ColecoVision home console.
Unlike the action and arcade titles typically associated with the system, this game stands out as a dungeon-crawling RPG that challenges players to lead a small party of adventurers into the depths of a perilous labyrinth.
The adventure begins in the village, where the rallying cry “Aux Armes! Aux Armes!” calls heroes to take up the challenge. Many have entered the dungeon, but few have survived to tell their tale. Equipped with a partially mapped first level and a bestiary known as the Tome of Dungeon Monsters, players must navigate unknown corridors, battle fearsome creatures, and collect gold and treasures hidden in the dark.
At the heart of the experience lies both risk and reward. Every expedition into the dungeon expands knowledge of its twisting layout, bringing players closer to both riches and glory. The game demands careful planning and resource management, as victory depends on the survival of your party.
For fans of retro gaming, Lord of the Dungeon represents one of ColecoVision’s most unique titles—a blend of strategy, exploration, and role-playing depth rarely seen on early home consoles. With its mix of danger, discovery, and fantasy storytelling, it remains a notable part of video game history and a sought-after experience for collectors and RPG enthusiasts alike.
