Philips Videopac 57 Blobbers is a thrilling action game released for the Magnavox Odyssey 2.

In this intense battle, players control a mobile laser unit, strategically positioned along the edges of the screen to fend off the relentless Blobbers. These fearsome, giant, amoeba-like creatures devour anything in their path and pose a significant threat as they evolve.

The game begins with Blobbers as small, harmless yellow spots. As time passes, these creatures grow into larger purple masses, then bigger white ones, and finally reach their dangerous red adult form. Only when they turn red can they harm the mobile laser unit.

At other stages, they merely stick to the unit, hindering its movement until it can shake them off. Adult Blobbers eventually multiply, giving rise to new yellow spots that grow and become another threat on the screen.

Players must strategically move their laser unit to the opposite side of the screen to hit the Blobbers. The laser gun only fires straight forward, requiring precise timing and positioning.

Adding to the challenge are the Magic Transporters, moving blocks that traverse the middle of the screen. These transporters can shift both the laser unit and Blobbers from one side to the other, providing a critical tactical advantage if used correctly. However, they also block laser shots, forcing players to carefully time their attacks.

The Blobbers increase in speed every 90 seconds, eventually matching the laser unit's speed, escalating the game's difficulty. With only one life and no continues, players must master quick reflexes, strategic movement, and sharp shooting to survive the Blobbers' onslaught.
