Philips Videopac 51 Terrahawks - Magnavox Odyssey 2 Classic Space Shooter

Philips Videopac 51 Terrahawks, developed by Philips Export and Magnavox for the Magnavox Odyssey 2, offers an exciting space shooter experience that challenges players to defend against the powerful Timelord of Chaos, Spyrus the Deathless.

Armed with your Time Machine's laser cannon, you must fend off waves of Time Ships determined to destroy you.

In Terrahawks, you navigate the Time Machine horizontally using the directional stick and fire its laser with the action button. Spyrus's fleet comes equipped with four distinct types of weapons introduced progressively over the first four levels:

Missiles - In Level 1, Time Ships fire missiles that travel straight towards the bottom of the screen.

Antimatter Mines - In Level 2, these mines track and follow your Time Machine's movements, requiring precise dodging skills.

Annihilators - In Level 3, these weapons dive straight down and then attempt to hit you from the sides, adding a new layer of challenge.

Nucleonic Time Killers - By Level 4, robot-piloted destroyers capable of predicting and countering your actions join the fray. The game spans 256 stages, each increasing in difficulty with faster and more heavily armed enemies.

Successfully completing a level involves destroying all Time Ships, with points awarded for each enemy type defeated: 2 points for missiles, 4 points for antimatter mines, 5 points for Time Ships, 8 points for annihilators, and 16 points for Time Killers.

An interesting feature of Terrahawks is the ability to jam the Timelord's transmissions by starting the game with the "0" key, preventing him from reappearing after each fleet is destroyed.

This classic game provides a nostalgic yet challenging adventure for fans of retro space shooters, testing both reflexes and strategy as you strive to protect your Time Machine against Spyrus's relentless assaults.
