Space Attack is a 1982 shoot 'em up video game developed by UA Limited and published by Emerson Radio Corp. for the Emerson Arcadia 2001 home gaming console.
Heavily inspired by the arcade classic Galaxian, Space Attack brings the iconic wave-based alien shooter format to the home gaming market.
In this vertically-scrolling shooter, players control a starfighter positioned at the bottom of the screen, tasked with eliminating formations of descending alien ships. The enemy patterns follow a familiar arcade structure—swooping attackers break formation and dive-bomb the player, requiring sharp reflexes and precise timing to survive and score points.
Although Space Attack is an unlicensed clone, it closely mirrors the gameplay mechanics, difficulty progression, and visual style of Galaxian, delivering a similar high-intensity space combat experience tailored to the Arcadia 2001's hardware capabilities. As players advance through waves, the speed and aggression of the alien forces increase, pushing skill and reaction time to the limit.
As part of the Arcadia 2001's early game lineup, Space Attack stands as a notable example of how home consoles attempted to recreate the arcade experience. Its fast gameplay, straightforward controls, and recognizable format make it a key title for retro gaming enthusiasts and collectors interested in early 1980s console history.
