R2D Tank

R2D Tank is a 2D arcade-style action game developed by UA Limited in collaboration with Bandai and published by Emerson Radio Corp. for the Emerson Arcadia 2001 home gaming console.

Serving as a sequel to Red Tank, R2D Tank builds on the original concept with faster gameplay and more intense combat scenarios.

In R2D Tank, the player controls a single tank within a confined battlefield. The core objective is to score points by collecting dot-like objects scattered across the screen while simultaneously engaging enemy tanks. As each enemy is destroyed, a new vehicle enters the battlefield, maintaining constant pressure and requiring players to stay alert.

The battlefield is also littered with red dot-shaped mines that can damage the player’s tank. These mines are not obstacles alone—they can be neutralized by shooting them, adding a tactical layer to movement and positioning. As players progress through levels, the number and difficulty of enemy tanks increase, creating a steadily escalating challenge.

R2D Tank offers straightforward mechanics with a focus on quick reflexes and strategic shooting. With its minimalist design and fast-paced action, it remains a noteworthy example of early 1980s home console combat games and a standout entry in the Emerson Arcadia 2001 library.
