Looping (ColecoVision) – Classic Arcade Flight Action by Coleco Industries

Looping is an arcade-style action game released for the ColecoVision home gaming console by Coleco Industries.

Designed for one or two players, the game delivers fast-paced aerial challenges that combine precision flying, timing, and quick reflexes.

The objective in Looping is to guide your plane from the runway to a docking station, navigating through multiple distinct gameplay areas. The journey begins with the destruction of a rocket, which unlocks the gate to the next stage. Along the way, players must avoid city terrain, enemy balloons, and other hazards.

Once inside the second area, the game shifts into a maze of twisting pipes. Here, there are no enemies, but the challenge lies in maintaining control and avoiding collisions with the maze walls. Extra points are awarded for flying faster or spending more time within the maze before exiting.

As the docking station comes into view, the final obstacle course appears. Twinkle monsters, green drops, and bouncing balls stand between the player and victory, each capable of destroying the plane on contact. Successfully reaching the docking station advances the game to the next level, with increased difficulty and faster-paced action.

Looping stands out as a classic ColecoVision title that merges arcade intensity with unique flight mechanics. Its combination of skill-based navigation, escalating challenges, and replay value made it a memorable entry in the console’s library of action games.
