Linking Logic

Linking Logic, developed by Frieda Lekkerkerker and released under Fisher-Price Learning Software for the ColecoVision.

Is an educational game designed to improve children’s logical reasoning and planning skills through interactive puzzle-solving.

The objective is to help one of two characters, Buddy or Betty, safely travel from the top of a five-story building to the bottom. Players control a bird that can place objects—such as bridges, springs, walls, and ladders—along the path to prevent the child from falling into holes or being forced in the wrong direction.

Once the path is set, the child begins walking. As they move across the floors, players must press a button when they step on patterned tiles. These tiles are collected and used to fill spaces on the bottom floor. Success depends on placing the right objects and ensuring that all required tiles are gathered before the child reaches the end. Missing a tile results in failure.

By combining strategic planning, timing, and problem-solving, Linking Logic challenges players to think ahead while maintaining quick reflexes. It balances fun with educational value, making it one of the more notable learning titles available for the ColecoVision.

As part of the Fisher-Price Learning Software line, Linking Logic reflects early efforts to bring interactive education into the home console space. It remains a fascinating example of how retro gaming could blend entertainment with skill development for younger audiences.
