Kevtris for ColecoVision – Classic Casino Game by Coleco Industries

Kevtris is a homebrew title for the ColecoVision console, developed by Kevin Horton and released by CVRS.

Notable for being the first ColecoVision game developed in nearly a decade, Kevtris pays homage to one of the most iconic puzzle games of all time—Tetris—while offering unique gameplay twists that expand the experience.

The game includes three distinct modes designed to challenge both solo players and two-player matches. Alongside the standard Tetris gameplay mode, players can enjoy Zero-Out Mode, where victory depends on clearing a specific number of lines, and Builder Mode, in which blocks do not fall automatically, allowing unlimited time for careful planning. These variations add replay value and depth to a timeless concept.

Kevtris also enhances the presentation with colorful graphics and background music, delivering a polished experience that stands out among early homebrew projects. Handicaps can be applied for multiplayer sessions, making the game accessible to both newcomers and seasoned Tetris players.

Although unofficial, Kevtris has become a significant part of the ColecoVision’s legacy, filling the gap left by the console’s original lifespan and proving the enduring popularity of puzzle-based gameplay.
