Gauntlet for ColecoVision – Classic Dungeon Crawl Adventure by Team Pixelboy

Gauntlet, developed for the ColecoVision home gaming console by Team Pixelboy, brings the iconic dungeon-crawling experience to classic hardware.

Set in the infamous Gauntlet—a legendary underground labyrinth described as a place “where wondrous treasures rub shoulders with untold nightmares”—the game challenges players to survive relentless waves of enemies while seeking riches deep within its twisting corridors.

The story follows four adventurers—Thor the Warrior, Thyra the Valkyrie, Merlin the Wizard, and Questor the Elf—each with their own strengths and abilities. Drawn by the promise of treasure, they descend into the dungeon only to face hordes of ghosts, warriors, and demons pouring from the shadows in every direction. While treasures and rewards await those who venture deep, the lure of riches has proven fatal to many who entered before.

Gameplay focuses on fast-paced, top-down action, where players navigate maze-like levels, fight off endless monsters, collect keys, and uncover hidden items. Enemy generators continually spawn new threats, making quick thinking and efficient movement essential for survival. Cooperative play is a key feature, allowing multiple players to team up, share loot, and protect one another from the overwhelming enemy swarms.

With its mix of strategic resource management, frantic combat, and dungeon exploration, Gauntlet captures the essence of the original arcade classic while adapting it to the ColecoVision’s capabilities.
