Frantic Freddy, developed by Spectravideo International, is a classic arcade-style action game for the ColecoVision home gaming console, where players take on the role of a heroic firefighter racing to extinguish flames and save cats trapped in a burning building.

The game begins at ground level, with Freddy dodging falling debris while aiming his water hose at flames bursting from the windows above. Once all the fires on a floor are extinguished, the action moves to the next level.

Gameplay alternates between two modes: vertical shooting, where Freddy targets flames above him, and horizontal shooting, where he must put out fires to his left and right while navigating between floors.

As players progress, the difficulty increases. Red and purple flames appear—purple ones are more dangerous, actively chasing Freddy and only becoming vulnerable after all red flames are extinguished.

On higher levels, cats begin appearing in windows and fall if not caught in time. Failing to rescue a cat, getting hit by debris, or touching a flame will cost Freddy a life.
