Evolution – ColecoVision Arcade Action Game by Sydney Development & Coleco

Evolution, developed by Sydney Development and Coleco Industries for the ColecoVision home gaming console, is a fast-paced arcade-style action game that takes players on a journey through six distinct stages of evolution.

Each level presents a new evolutionary form and gameplay objective, offering a varied and challenging experience.

The game begins at the amoeba stage, where players must consume all DNA on screen while evading harmful spores, microbes, and antibodies.

In the second level, players evolve into a tadpole, tasked with catching three flies while avoiding predatory fish. The third stage introduces the rodent form, which must gather five blocks of cheese while dodging snakes.

Level four shifts to a beaver navigating alligator-infested waters to collect sticks and build a dam, requiring both timing and precision. The fifth level features a gorilla defending its orange stash by throwing coconuts at rival monkeys.

The final stage sees the player as a human, wielding a laser gun to combat mutants threatening Earth's survival.

With its evolutionary theme, increasingly complex objectives, and diverse gameplay mechanics, Evolution stands out as one of the more ambitious and creative titles available on the ColecoVision platform.
