DacMan – Pac-Man Inspired Maze Game by Daniel Bienvenu for ColecoVision

DacMan is a maze-based arcade game developed by Daniel Bienvenu in collaboration with CollectorVision Games and NewColeco, designed for the ColecoVision home gaming console.

As a tribute to the legendary Pac-Man, DacMan brings familiar gameplay mechanics to the platform with its own unique twist.

In DacMan, players navigate a maze while consuming all the dots, avoiding three roaming ghosts. Like the original arcade classic, eating a power pellet temporarily turns the ghosts blue, allowing the player to chase and eat them for extra points. While the visual and gameplay style closely resembles Pac-Man, the reduced number of ghosts adds a subtle variation in strategy and pacing.

Starting with version 1.3 of the cartridge, DacMan also includes a hidden bonus game called DacPong!. This Easter egg title is a creative reinterpretation of Pong, where the ball is replaced by the iconic Pac-Man-style character, adding a playful touch to the overall package.

With its nostalgic design and added bonus content, DacMan stands out as both a loving homage and a clever reinterpretation of early arcade gaming. It’s a solid addition to any ColecoVision library and appeals to both retro enthusiasts and casual players looking for authentic 8-bit arcade experiences.
