Missile Vader, developed by Bandai Co., Ltd., is a retro arcade-style shooter released on the Bandai Super Vision 8000. As a variant of the iconic Space Invaders, this game pits the player against a grid of alien invaders that descend from the top of the screen, moving back and forth. The player controls a tank at the bottom of the screen, aiming to eliminate all alien threats before they reach the ground.
To help in the fight, the player can take cover behind three protective bunkers. These bunkers, however, can be gradually destroyed by both enemy fire and the player’s own shots. Occasionally, a UFO flies across the top of the screen, which can be shot down for extra bonus points. Missile Vader offers four different difficulty levels, providing varied gameplay experiences, from a relaxing mode where the aliens don't fire back to more intense levels that test the player’s reflexes.
This nostalgic game captures the thrilling arcade action of the late 1970s while adding its own twist to the Space Invaders formula. Fans of retro gaming will appreciate its simplicity, challenge, and historical significance on the Super Vision 8000 console.
